Exercise for Life: A healthy Lifestyle
Exercise is important for everyone no matter what age and no matter what state in life. The benefits you will gain from exercising will stay with you and, carry you in good health for the rest of your life. In fact, you don’t have to have a very strict regimen of exercise, because just thirty minutes a day of moderate intensity exercises can make all the difference in your health.
In this report you will learn how exercise is helpful at each stage of life and why it is important to maintain a regular form of exercise. Briefly, let’s explore the various stages of life and their need for exercise.
- Infants
It is very likely that most people don’t think about how important it is for infants to have exercise. Remember that tiny babies depend on their parents for everything and that doesn’t just mean nutrition, warmth, clean diapers and clothing; but also the proper exercise of their muscles which will eventually sustain them throughout life. This can be accomplished by moving their little arms and legs back and forth and in circles.
- Toddlers
Toddlers are such active creatures, one would doubt the necessity of making sure they get enough exercise, however, this is the perfect time to get them started on the path to enjoying outdoor play. In the long run, this may inhibit them from spending every possible moment in front of a video game, computer screen or television set.
Outdoor games, time at the playground and short adventure walks to identify flowers, birds and other items are a great way to share an activity with a young toddler.
- Youth (ages five to twelve)
Remember that this is the time when children are introduced to other children and perhaps for the first time are confronted with making their own choices about diet and exercise. It is important for us to instill good habits of eating nutritious foods and balancing their diets with proper exercise to avoid becoming overweight.
This is the time to encourage sports and bike riding and help your children explore activities that are fun or interesting to them.
- Teens
This is a time when young people are bombarded with choices about food, clothing, activities, etc. Hopefully, by the time your child reaches his or her teen years, you have already instilled in them good eating habits and a lifestyle which includes lot of physical activity. If so, it is likely this good attitude will continue through the teenage years.
However, it is really never too late to begin good eating habits and increased physical activity. This may be up to you to encourage, in the form of saying no to long periods of inactivity spent in front of the television or computer screen.
Now, more than ever, it is important your teen fill his or her appetite with healthy foods instead of the regular junk food that teenagers are so notorious for enjoying.
- Adults
Adult obesity seems to be out of control. Never before have so many people been overweight and searching for that special diet that is going to solve all their problems. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely any diet in itself is the answer. Preventing obesity is the best way to deal with the problem. That calls for good eating habits that include lots of fresh foods, and a regular form of exercise.
- Seniors
This is probably the most overlooked stage in life when it comes to exercise. Fortunately, more seniors are becoming aware of the fact that the added years don’t call for a slow down, but actually a speed up. Seniors who exercise feel better, live longer and tend to avoid many of the aches and pains connected with getting older.
If you’ve neglected exercise, and find yourself spending too much time in front of the television, get out, take a walk and start looking for an exercise that will fit in with your lifestyle.
Your Future
How will you go about getting into better shape? No matter what your age group, exercise provides benefits that will carry you through the rest of your life. Just thirty minutes a day of moderate intensity exercise can make a difference in your life. Do that three or four times a week and the change to your life will be amazing.
While you are sticking to that exercise routine and getting stronger, don’t forget the food. Exercise in combination with healthier food choices equals a total program for fat loss and increased health. Many people have eliminated many medications that they were taking before they learned to control their diet. It is amazing how the human body can bounce back when it is given the right fuel for optimum function.
So, grab your child, spouse, parent, and grandparents and start to get active. Lean on each other for support to stick to the plan that will keep you healthy for life!
