Your Skin Will Glow with Vitamin A!
If you’ve ever made a trip down the skin product aisle, you’ve certainly noticed there are dozens of products available with lots of strange sounding items on the label. To say the least, this makes it difficult to figure out which is the right product to use. But choosing the right product really doesn’t have to be complicated because the best product for almost any skin condition is Vitamin A.
One of the greatest things about using Vitamin A is that it comes in many forms and can be used for an abundance of skin conditions. Believe it or not, Vitamin A is a great product for treating acne. Also, it helps to reduce lines and wrinkles and helps repair the skin from sun damage. Sometimes, a complexion can be greatly improved simply by changing your eating habits to make sure you get plenty of the vitamin in your diet.
Fruits and vegetables rich in Vitamin A:
- Apricots
- Carrots
- Peaches
- Spinach
- Red Peppers
- Mango
- Papaya
For most people, just eating a balanced diet will offer plenty of Vitamin A. However some people don’t eat well and in that case a Vitamin A supplement can be taken. Vitamin A is great for more than just skin care; it helps fight infections, builds healthy new cells and can possibly help those who suffer from night vision problems
Topical Vitamin A
Along with getting Vitamin A through their diet, some enjoy the benefits of using the vitamin topically. There are plenty of products, in the form of creams, ointments and gels that contain Vitamin A. Many can be purchased without a prescription, but a number of Vitamin A products must be prescribed by a physician.
Retin-A must be purchased with a prescription. It is probably the most well known forms of Vitamin A; and is used primarily for treating acne. The way it works is through raising the quality of cells in the dermis. It is sometimes used for treating fine lines and wrinkles as well as for damage caused by the sun.
There are a number of Vitamin A products that can be purchased without the use of a prescription. Most of these are used for treating skin conditions associated with aging, however many are used to treat things like warts and psoriasis too.
Possible side effects of Vitamin A
As long as you don’t take too much Vitamin A, it is usually fairly safe. However, sometimes it can produce unwanted side effects. Drying out skin is one of those and if you already have dry skin, the effect can be quite aggravating. Sometimes it makes your skin extra sensitive to the sun and can cause sunburn and ultimately sun damage. Of course the way to combat that problem is to use a good sunscreen.
Even though there are a few possible bad effects on your skin from using Vitamin A, the benefits far outweigh them. Vitamin A is one of the few skin treatments that really works well against acne and preventing wrinkles. In fact, by getting enough Vitamin A in your diet and adding supplements or using topical treatments, you can have beautiful skin.
