Stress & Infertility: What you need to know!
Having difficulty becoming pregnant can be especially stressful. Let’s face it, if a couple isn’t pregnant after a few months, you may start to worry. For most folk, worry leads to stress, and stress can actually take over your whole life. But, even more than that, could that stress actually be what’s stopping you from becoming pregnant?
Study after study has shown that stressors (both long term and short term) cause your body to release certain hormones. These are natural chemicals that allow your body to deal with stressors and cope with things that are going on around you. Unfortunately, these stress hormones continue to release over time.
All functions of the human body, even ovulation are controlled by hormones. That makes it only logical to assume that since stress changes hormone levels, it could also affect fertility. Although this theory is accepted by most people because of the perfect sense it makes, no one has ever really studied it in a clinical study.
The best thing to do is to reduce as much stress from you life as possible.
Every cycle in the human body, including ovulation, is controlled by hormones. So it’s logical to assume that since stress changes hormone levels, it could also affect fertility. While most people accept this theory, it’s never actually been proven in clinical studies. However, these studies aren’t perfect and reducing your body’s stress level is hardly ever a bad thing.
And, although it’s never been proven that stress makes a woman infertile, it makes sense that it could make it harder to become pregnant because of other factors.
Stress wreaks havoc on your menstrual cycle. It changes the timing of your period and therefore the time of ovulation also. This means that if you are using a menstrual cycle to help you get pregnant, you might want to try using fertility monitors to figure out when you are the most fertile.
No one is sure why, but stress is a fairly well known cause of miscarriage. Most miscarriages occur before a woman even knows she’s pregnant and these miscarriages are often mistaken for just being a regular period, when in reality it could be that miscarriages are interfering with your getting pregnant. If this is the situation it is crucial then to reduce your stress during your pregnancy to prevent future miscarriages.
While the reason is still unknown, stress is a fairly well-known cause of miscarriage. Since many miscarriages occur before a woman even knows she’s pregnant and are often mistaken for a normal (or early) period, miscarrying could be mistaken for infertility. If this is the case, you need to try to reduce your stress during your entire pregnancy to prevent future miscarriages.
Although doctors aren’t really sure how much stress is a factor in pregnancy, they do know it isn’t good for the body. If you are trying to get pregnant, make sure you eat right, take your vitamins follow your doctor’s orders and then add some relaxation and stress relief into your routine as well.
While doctors really aren’t sure if stress is a factor in pregnancy, it’s usually not very good for the body. If you’re trying to get pregnant, you usually try to eat right, and get enough exercise, but why not add some relaxation and stress relief into your daily routine as well. Here are some simple stress-relieving tips:
Exercise
Generally, the rule of thumb is that women can do the same exercises during pregnancy as they did before they got pregnant. So, in addition to reducing stress and making you healthier, getting started now will help you to stay fit while you’re pregnant.
Sleep
It is extremely important to get enough sleep. Study after study has shown that getting enough sleep is essential for being healthy. It helps you think clearer, work harder, and can even help you lose weight. Getting enough sleep is also good for managing your stress levels.
Meditation
This is a great way to reduce stress if you don’t have a lot of time or can’t perform physical activity. Plus, it can be a great way to help ease you to sleep if you’re having problems.
